Training for High School Graduates (Baccalaureate Holders)

In general, it is often difficult for newly graduated high school students to transition smoothly into post-secondary education, as career guidance and counseling institutions are very limited in the Republic of the Congo. As a result, many students are unsure about their future after obtaining the Baccalaureate (BAC). This is why Protecting Environment (PEA), through the Centre de Formation La Découverte (CFD), offers the following support:

  • Raising awareness among high school graduates about post-secondary studies;

  • Providing counseling and career guidance to high school graduates;

  • Training graduates in all subjects required for entrance examinations to institutions of Marien Ngouabi University (UMNG);

  • Assisting graduates with administrative procedures (preparation and submission of application files).

Through CFD, PEA provides academic support in the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Life and Earth Sciences (Biology), French, Philosophy, English, Electronics, Electrotechnics, Psychotechnics, History and Geography, General Knowledge, Zootechnics, Animal Physiology, and Animal Pathology.

CFD prepares graduates for competitive entrance examinations to institutions such as:
ENSP (National Higher Polytechnic School), ENS (Higher Teacher Training College), ISG (Higher Institute of Management), FSSA (Faculty of Health Sciences), and ENSAF (National Higher School of Agronomy and Forestry).

Results Achieved:

  • Over 200 high school graduates sensitized on post-secondary studies;

  • Over 300 graduates trained;

  • More than 240 graduates successfully completed and submitted their application files;

  • Over 350 graduates enrolled at CFD out of 400 expected (75% performance rate);

  • 280 graduates participated in training sessions out of 360 expected (77% performance rate);

  • 240 graduates took part in competitive entrance exams out of 340 expected (70% performance rate).

Human resources for this program include: 4 members of the project management team; 9 recruited qualified trainers; and 5 facilitators/marketing officers.
Training sessions take place near the French School Saint-Exupéry, within the National Printing House compound.

Training of Final-Year (Terminale) and First-Year (Première) High School Students

Most public high school students do not benefit from tutorial sessions in their schools, as these institutions mainly provide lectures under poor learning conditions (often more than 100 students per classroom). Courses are rushed, classrooms are overcrowded, and students face significant difficulties in understanding lessons. To address these challenges, PEA, through CFD, is committed to:

  • Training students in Terminale A and D, and Première C and D, across all key subjects:
    (Mathematics, Physics, Life and Earth Sciences, French, Philosophy, English, German, History and Geography);

  • Raising awareness, providing guidance, and maintaining academic rigor to improve students’ chances of success;

  • Ensuring a rigorous recruitment process for qualified trainers.

Results Achieved:

  • Over 200 students trained;

  • More than 175 students improved their knowledge levels in the selected subjects;

  • Over 200 students out of 300 enrolled and regularly attending training sessions (75% performance rate);

  • 280 students out of 300 expressed satisfaction with all recruited trainers (90% performance rate).

Human resources include: 4 members of the project management team; 9 recruited trainers; and 4 facilitators/marketing officers.
Training sessions are held near the French School Saint-Exupéry, within the National Printing House compound.
